Renting Skates in London – List of Locations & Prices

So you want to rent skates rather than buy a pair outright. And you’re in London. London UK, not London, Canada, I’m sorry to say. Maybe I’ll cover Canada one day…

Where can you rent skates in London? There’s only a couple of places you can actually rent skates in London, Slick Willies near Hyde Park, London Skate Centre, again near Hyde Park, Roller Dance Skate hire, Double Threat skates, or from a number of roller disco venues which is just for the roller disco themselves.

Not many options then I’m afraid… But see below for information on how much it costs to rent and where you can find these places.

There are also a couple of other options if you don’t want to buy, which involve taking lessons and renting skates at the lessons. These are included below as well.

Rented from Slick Willies in Gloucester Road. Legs not included.

Happy skating!

Where Can I Rent Skates In London?

You only have 2 main options for standard inline skates rental in London, and they’re both on the West side of Hyde Park (one’s North of the Park, the other’s South). Both are good options, and both also rent out rollerskates.

You have 2 options for just rollerskates rental, one which is a delivery service from Kent, and another which is sort of a try-before you buy scheme. But that’s it.

Not that many options I’m afraid.

But I’ve included all the details below.

Skates like this:

  • Minimum hire period is 3 months
  • Hire covers reasonable wear and tear including replacing wheels and toe stops, up to 1 set each a year
  • 14 day full refund including deposit as long as they are returned unused within the 14 days

How much?

  • £21 per month (minimum 3 months makes this at least £63)

Double Threat Skates

Double Threat Skates has a rental programme of a sort. Basically you try out a pair of skates that they hope you’re going to buy. It’s £20 for two weeks, they send you the skates in the mail, and then you keep them for a maximum of two weeks. When you return you get £10 back but in voucher form, so it either goes towards the skates that you’ve now decided you love. Or you buy something else for £10. Or you throw the voucher away (or give it for a half-hearted birthday present)

You can rent skates at roller disco’s too, didn’t you know?

You have other places you can technically “rent” skates, but these are more widely known as roller discos… You rent them at the disco, in the disco, whilst skating during the disco. I hope you’re aware of what these are. These tend to be quads / roller skates, rather than inlines.

Kids skating lessons

If you’re looking to rent skates and have your kids learn at the same time, there’s:

Zebraskate

Summer camp, group lessons, private lessons and more. Again, doesn’t appear you can actually rent skates here, but maybe you could ask.

Fat Llama – Generic Rental Website Has Skates To Rent

This is a website I’d never come across before, and looks like average people can put up items they own to either sell or rent, and it shows their location.

Fat Llama

That’s all I’m afraid.
